Est. $30,000-$32,500 Henry Dunay One-of-a-Kind 3.00ctw VVS1-VVS2/D-F Diamond & Solid 18K Yellow Gold Textured Removable Extension Ear Clips W/Ebony Inserts (Comes W/$30,000 Appraisal) - This stunning one-of-a-kind pair of earrings was commissioned by a private jewelry collector in the 1970's. The earrings are truly a magnificent work of art and are made of solid 18k yellow gold. The earrings feature a stunning "Day & Night" design as the bottoms are removable to allow you to wear them for formal and casual events. Each ebony wood insert is strategically lined with vibrant VVS1-VVS2/D-F pave set diamonds totaling approximately 3.00ctw. These earrings have been in a private collection for over 40 years. This is the first time the pair has ever been offered for auction. The length of each earring is 3" with the attachment and 1" without. Henry Dunay started his career at the age of 14 and started his own firm in 1956, initially taking on work from other manufacturers (including Harry Winston) to support himself. He also greatly admired David Webb. He quickly found success and fame after winning the De Beers Diamond International Award, which showered images of his designs around the world. He has been awarded over 50 National and International Awards over fifty years, and is a four time winner of the Diamond International award. In 2013 "Lost Love", a carved aquamarine, diamond, platinum and gold sculpture by Dunay brought a realized price of $170,500 at auction, and rock crystal quartz and yellow gold mounted presentation bowl of a boat-shaped outline fetched $68,500. This is a once in a lifetime find, and is truly a museum or archive worthy piece. The back of the piece is signed "Dunay" along with the metal content. Dunay has had his pieces on countless red carpet events on celebrities such as; Nicole Kidman, Denzel Washington's wife, Hillary Clinton, Adrien Brody and is a widely loved brand around the world.
