Est. $7,500-$8,000 2.50ct Tsavorite Garnet & Solid 18K Yellow Gold Vintage Poison Ring - This unique vintage ring was finely crafted of solid 18k yellow gold. The ring has a hexagonal shaped table set with a 2.50ct (approximate) genuine emerald cut Tsavorite Garnet which is set flush with the piece. This ring is truly unique as the top of the table is actually hinged and opens up to reveal a small hidden compartment. Poison rings have been documented since Ancient Roman times and gained popularity in Europe during the 16th century. The poison ring was used either to slip poison into an enemy's food or drink, or to facilitate the suicide of the wearer in order to preclude capture or torture. Rings like this have also been used throughout history to hold perfume, locks of hair, devotional relics, messages and other keepsakes such as photos of loved ones. This ring has a lovely satin finish, and is marked with the gold purity "750" on the inside of the band along with a maker's mark. Ring size: 6. (WEIGHT: 16.3 grams)
