Est. $50,000-$55,000 Marilyn Monroe's Personally Owned Collection of Jewelry Acquired From Inez Melson W/Letter of Provenance - This collection of jewelry was personally owned by Marilyn Monroe before she gave them to her friend and business manager Inez Melson. The lot includes: 2" silver-tone rhinestone chandelier earrings, 7" decorative silver-tone bracelet, 18" faux pearl necklace, 16" silver-tone blue rhinestone necklace and 16" gold-tone blue rhinestone necklace. The jewelry will be accompanied by a detailed letter of provenance dated 2015 from Barbara Stephens mentioning each of the pieces in detail, who states that her mother was great friends with Melson. According to the letter, Stephens was helping Melson with some work around late 1962 and her mother told her not to ask for money and to do the job only to be nice and friendly. Melson told Stephens that she might give her an item owned by Marilyn as a thank you gift, and later brought five jewelry items to Stephens around 1964. According to Stephens, she kept these items in her personal collection until 2015 when they were sold to a collector.
