Est. $85,000-$87,500 Paolo Gucci 2.00ctw VS1-VS2/F-G Diamond & Solid 18K Yellow/White Gold Necklace W/Crystal & Onyx Figural Details (Comes W/$85,000 Appraisal) - This incredible, one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry is truly a work of art and was made by The House of Gucci's own Paolo Gucci of the infamous Italian Gucci family. Paolo Gucci pieces are incredibly rare, and even more so in this stunningly flawless condition. The necklace was finely crafted of solid 18k yellow and white gold, and has a hinged design finished with 28mm x 40mm rock crystal and carved onyx figural profiles on each end. The necklace is also embellished with approximately 2.00ctw genuine VS1-VS2/F-G brilliant round-cut diamonds that are set in white gold, finishing the piece beautifully. Paolo Gucci was the grandson of the House of Gucci's founder Guccio Gucci, and was the former vice-president and managing director of Gucci Shops, Inc and Gucci Parfums of America. He was a key player in the power struggle for control of the Gucci leather goods and fashion empire during the 1970's and 1980's when he attempted to expand and modernize the Gucci empire. The family wanted to keep the business small, exclusive and old-fashioned. Paolo was eventually fired from the parent company in 1978. Upon Paolo's uncle Rodolfo's death in 1983, his shares were given to his son (Paolo's cousin) Maurizio and conflict in the family began. Maurizio was eventually murdered, and in 1998 Paolo's ex-wife was convicted of ordering that murder. This is truly a museum and archive quality work. The necklace measures approximately 19.5" in circumference. The inside of the necklace is signed "Paolo Designed by Paolo Gucci", along with the gold purity "18K", "Italy" and the Italian assay mark. The piece has a heavy and luxurious feel, and truly radiates sophistication and grandeur. All jewelry pieces sold by GWS Auctions will be shipped in a jewelry gift box. (WEIGHT: 223.3 grams) Please note: This piece come with an $85,000 insurance valuation report in the winning bidder's name by a graduate appraiser. This is the only piece of its kind known to exist in the world.
