Est. $28,000-$30,000 Batman Returns (1992) Michelle Pfeffer "Catwoman" Cowl, Corset & Boots W/LOA - This costume was worn by the character "Catwoman" portrayed by actress Michelle Pfeiffer in the 1992 film, Batman Returns. The custom fabricated costume includes a "stage 3" foam latex cowl on a custom form, "stage 3" corset worn by a stunt performer with "Tricia Catwoman Stage 3" handwritten on the bodice, protective knee and elbow pads, boots by "DiFabrizzio" with stunt performer "Trish Peters" written in black ink, black socks, and soft Velcro heels utilized for stunt scenes. Pfeiffer appeared as "Catwoman" throughout most of the film, and her costume went through three stages of deterioration as the story progressed. This "stage 3" cowl with exposed hair is seen after the Penguin's helicopter umbrella carries Catwoman and drops her into a glass greenhouse. It is most notably seen when Max Schreck escapes from the Penguin's cage within the abandoned Gotham Zoo and is pulled up from the water by Selina Kyle. Batman tries to prevent Selina from killing Schreck by removing his mask to reveal that he is Bruce Wayne. Famed sculptor Jose Fernandez was commissioned to sculpt Michele Pfeiffer's Catwoman cowl, and there were a total of thirty-six cowls made for the production with nine cowls for each stage of distress. Almost all of the cowls were destroyed or deteriorated during production, and 25 years later Fernandez restored this "Stage 3" cowl and created a custom Michelle Pfeiffer form to stabilize and preserve the foam. The "stage 3" foam latex cowl has real blonde hair extensions adhered to the inside of the mask, and strands of the hair are pulled through the latex to simulate Pfeiffer's real hair. Makeup and adhesive residue can be found on the surface of the cowl's interior, along with an Internal red rubber dot with "#2" hand written, which represents a "Stage 3 # 2 Hero" cowl (the stunt versions were marked with white dots). The costume will be accompanied by a letter of authenticity from one of Hollywood's premier 4th generation costume and prop houses, signed by Jose Fernandez.
