Est. $18,000-$19,500 Elvis Presley Gifted Baume & Mercier Solid 14K Yellow Gold Watch to Las Vegas International Hotel Bandleader Bobby Morris W/(2) LOAs (Featured in Graceland Auction) - This solid 14k yellow gold wristwatch by Baume & Mercier was given by Elvis Presley as a gift to Las Vegas International Hotel bandleader, Bobby Morris. Bobby was hired by Kirk Kerkorian for the opening of the International Showroom, which was opened by Barbara Streisand followed by Elvis Presley. Elvis took the stage on July 31st, 1969 after a protracted eight years absence from live performances. The sold out show marked a historic milestone in Elvis' career and is recognized as one of the most electrifying moments in the King's monumental career. This triumphant return marked the beginning of his renaissance and his long, popular stay in Las Vegas. Bobby Morris performed with Elvis during his engagement at the hotel, and Elvis gave Bobby this personalized watch to show his appreciation he felt for Bobby's work. The watch is made of solid 14k yellow gold and is engraved on the back, "To Bobby from Squirrly EP", as Elvis was given the nickname "Squirrely" because of his fooling around during the rehearsals. The engraver misspelled Squirrley on this and other known examples. The back is also marked with the B&M stamp above an engraved International Hotel logo, and is also stamped 14k. The watch is also marked "Baume & Mercier/Geneve/Swiss" on the gold dial, and has a quartz movement and a woven gold bracelet finished with a snap channel clasp. The watch measures approx. 7.75"L x 1.1"W (case diameter), and weighs 40.7 grams. It is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Bobby Morris, along with a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.
