Est. $6,500-$7,500 Vietnamese Bleu de Hue Porcelain Lidded Teacup & Stand W/Metal Rims, Longevity Character, Buddhist Wan & Four Character Marking - This porcelain lidded teacup is elaborately decorated in a vivid blue underglaze with an ornate floral motif inside a geometric border. The piece includes a cup, lid and stand which are all decorated on the exterior. The lid and stand have metal rims, as selected vessels were finished with rims of silver as early as the Han dynasty to set them apart from the ordinary and to make them suitable for high class clients. The stand is also marked with a "Tho" (longevity) seal and the Buddhist mark known as Wan, which is an ancient symbol of prosperity and good fortune and represents the revolving sun, fire, or life. The lid, cup and stand are also marked with four character markings in underglazed blue, and the cup and lid also have a calligraphy inscription to the back. This piece comes from the estate of a Vietnamese Royal Family (the family now lives in the United States, and wishes to remain private as they still have relatives living in Vietnam). Measurements: cup-3.75"H (including lid) x 3.5" diameter, stand-1"H x 3.5" diameter.
