Est. $17,500-$18,000 Elvis Presley's Sy Devore/Damon of Italy Red Cardigan Sweater Given to Bodyguard Dave Hebler W/(2) LOAs - This red cardigan was made by Damon of Italy and sold by Sy Devore at the Sands. The red cardigan is size large, and has an interior Sy Devore The Sands label as well as a Damon of Italy label. Devore moved to Los Angeles from New York in 1944, and within five years was almost as famous as the names he had dressed. Devore became known for dressing legends such as Elvis Presley, John Wayne, Bing Crosby, Peter Lawford, Joey Bishop, Nat King Cole, President John F. Kennedy, and Sammy Davis Jr., and even designed the Rat Pack's close-cut suits for the original Ocean’s 11 film. This sweater was later acquired by Elvis' long time friend, Memphis Mafia member and bodyguard, Dave Hebler, while at Graceland one day when Elvis asked for help to clear out his bedroom closet. The sweater will be accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Hebler detailing the events of that day, along with a second letter from 40 year gaming industry veteran, former Las Vegas Hilton employee and memorabilia collector Jerald Branca, who purchased the piece from Dave Hebler in the early 2000s. The sweater will also come with a press release signed by Hebler which advertises the book "Elvis: What Happened?", a story in the words Dave Hebler, Sonny West and Red West told by journalist Steve Dunleavy.
