Est. $52,000-$53,000 Edwardian GIA Certified Natural Pinctada Pearl, 2.20ctw Uncut Diamond & Solid Platinum Necklace W/0.25ctw Ruby & 7.2mm Pearl Accents (Comes W/$52,000 Appraisal) - This magnificent piece of jewelry was created during the Edwardian era, and was created from hundreds of genuine, natural Pinctada pearls and comes with a GIA report. Edwardian jewelry possesses a refinement and elegance that evokes images of royalty and aristocrats, and are among the most prized and sought after pieces of jewelry by collectors around the globe. Edwardian was the last style of jewelry to rely solely on natural pearls, as natural saltwater pearls have been prized for thousands of years for their luster, iridescence and almost ethereal appearance. Natural saltwater pearls were so rare during the Edwardian era that matched necklaces were only within the reach of the very wealthiest members of society, making these pieces incredibly rare. This piece was likely made for someone of nobility, as the pearls are naturally occurring and match beautifully. The necklace measures approximately 27" in length, and is constructed of beaded pearls in an ornate pattern. The necklace is decorated with (2) 1.75" solid platinum inserts which are embellished with approximately 0.20ctw uncut diamonds, delicate pierced and millgrain details typical of the era, and pearl centers. The necklace is then finished with a 2" solid platinum pendant which matches the inserts beautifully and is embellished with approximately 2.00ctw uncut diamonds, 0.25ctw rubies and a 7.2mm pearl center. This incredible piece is not only a fine jewelry item, but is truly a work of art with wonderful investment potential. Pinctada mollusks are the primary source of saltwater pearls whether natural or cultured, however, few Pinctada oysters yield pearls and it likely took years to gather enough of these beautiful pearls to create this piece. This necklace will be accompanied by a GIA report for the pearls, which categorizes these pearls as naturally occurring and with no indications of treatment. This piece will also come with a $52,000 insurance valuation report in the winning bidder's name by a graduate appraiser. (WEIGHT: 45.6 grams). PLEASE NOTE: THIS ENTIRE PIECE WAS PROFESSIONALLY RE-STRUNG TO ENSURE THE WINNING BIDDER HAS A SECURE, INVESTMENT QUALITY PIECE.
