Est. $20,000-$22,500 Qing Dynasty Blue Underglazed White Porcelain Bowl W/Five Imperial Dragons, Metal Rim & Foot (Has Yongzheng Period Marking) - This magnificent porcelain bowl is beautifully decorated on both the exterior and interior with a vibrant blue underglaze depicting a scrolling motif of five imperial dragons. The dragons have five claws, suggesting that the piece was made for the royal court, as pieces made for nobility were depicted with five claws while pieces made for the public depicted the dragons with four claws or less. Furthermore, the piece is finished with a metal rim and foot, as selected vessels were finished with rims of silver as early as the Han dynasty to set them apart from the ordinary and to make them suitable for high class clients, and to also protect them from damage. The bottom of the bowl bears the six character Yongzheng period marking in double circles in blue underglaze. Measurements (approximate): 5"H x 10" diameter.
