Est. $800,000-$2,000,000 Frida Kahlo (Mexican; 1907-1954) 1951 "Naturaleza Viva" (Living Nature) Original Mixed Media on Cardboard Bodegón in Ornate Wooden Frame W/COA & Provenance - This stunning piece is an original, mixed media on cardboard drawing by renowned Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. The piece is titled "Naturaleza Viva", and is a bodegón (still life) depicting an owl with various fruits. The piece inscribed "Frida Kahlo Coyoacan, 1951 Mexico" in the lower left corner. This is a special piece, as it has been said that Kahlo produced several still life paintings like this one in the last years of her life, because she said "it was easier" than painting self-portraits, and because she hoped that they would sell quickly so she would be able to help her husband (famous Mexican muralist, Diego Rivera) pay the cost of her medical expenses. The piece has been professionally framed under non-glare plexiglass in a beautiful wooden frame. The piece will be accompanied by a certificate from the Museo Nacional De Historia at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, one of the top universities in the world based on world rankings highlighting the university's extensive research and innovation. The work will also be accompanied by two letters of provenance, dated 1998 and 2003, which describe how the piece was acquired. This piece has spectacular investment potential, as Kahlo's works continue to sell for Millions at auction, as demand for her pieces has continued to soar over the years. In May 1990, Frida Kahlo became the first Latin-American artist to command more than $1 million for a single work, when her "Diego and I" painting sold for over $1.4 Million. Measurements (approximate): 18"W x 24"L (25" x 31" x 2" including frame.
