Est. $2,000,000-$5,000,000 CY Twombly (American; 1928-2011) "Milk" Framed Oil on Canvas Painting - This stunning work was painted by world renowned artist CY Twombly. This oil on canvas painting depicts an abstract scene, using an array of vibrant warm colors, in a color palette that is very eye pleasing. The work's title, "Milk", is inscribed in the top left corner, and Twombly's trademark looping scribbles can be seen throughout the piece. The work is signed in the top right, and is framed in a white wood, floating frame. This piece was purchased by our client from a European art dealer, and was told that it was a restituted work from a post-Russian acquired artwork redistribution effort after WWII. Measurements (approximate): 23"W x 21"L (26.5" x 24" including frame). CY Twombly was an American painter, sculptor and photographer. His paintings are predominantly large-scale, freely-scribbled, calligraphic and graffiti-like works on solid fields of mostly gray, tan, or off-white colors. Many of his works are in the permanent collections of most of the museums of modern art around the world, including the Menil Collection in Houston, the Tate Modern in London and the New York's Museum of Modern Art. He was also commissioned for the ceiling of a room of the Musee du Louvre in Paris, and credited with influencing younger artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Anselm Kiefer, Francesco Clemente, and Julian Schnabel.
