Est. $100,000-$125,000 Vietnamese Coralized Glazed Porcelain Jin Chan Recovered From Vietnam Shipwreck (Sunken Treasure) - This piece displays a great use of powder blue and pastel pink underglazed colors, and represents wishes for good fortune. This piece was recovered from a Vietnamese shipwreck. Many of these pieces were lost due to multiple wars in the Southeastern Asian regions that have taken place over generations. The toad has become coralized, suggesting it was hidden under the sea for several years before being discovered. The legend of Jin Chan dates back to the 10th century, when Liu Hai, a fabled Chinese alchemist learned the secret of immortality from the Jin Chan, and became an immortal. Which proves the legend to be true, because this piece survived when so many others were lost. Measures: 15"L x 10"H x 12"W (approximately).
