Est. $25,000-$35,000 Whitney Houston's Custom Made Glass Coffee Table & Chairs Matching Her Prized Piano - These one of a kind coffee table and chairs were made exclusively for Whitney Houston. This set was originally acquired from the Nippy, Inc (Whitney Houston's company) unpaid storage unit auction conducted by AJ Willner Auctions in New Jersey in 2007. These table and chairs were made to match Whitney's favorite Schimmel piano (which is offered in the previous lot). This is an iconic piece of music memorabilia that truly belongs in a museum, or in a private collection. Born on August 9, 1963 in Newark, New Jersey, Whitney Houston almost seemed destined from birth to become a singer. Her mother Cissy Houston, cousin Dionne Warwick and godmother Aretha Franklin were all legendary figures in American gospel, soul and pop music, and were great inspirations for Whitney's music. She began singing in the choir at her church, The New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, as a young child and by the age of 15 was singing backing vocals professionally with her mother on Chaka Khan's 1978 hit, 'I'm Every Woman'. She went on to provide backing vocals for Lou Rawls, Jermaine Jackson and her own mother and worked briefly as a model, appearing on the cover of 'Seventeen' magazine in 1981. Her career was honored with 2 Emmy awards, 6 People's Choice awards, 6 Grammy awards and 22 American Music Awards, just to name a few. Her music will live on for generations, and she will forever be a music industry icon, and the Queen of Pop. Whitney Houston tragically passed away in 2012, and her death was followed by the then tragic passing of her only child in 2015. This piece comes from the collection of "Treasure King" Richie Marcello. Larger-than-life collector Richie Marcello, also knows as the "Treasure King" scours the globe to buy and sell some of the world's most highly sought after museum-caliber treasures and rare Hollywood memorabilia many believed to be lost forever.
