Est. $80,000-$90,000 Michelangelo "Madonna Della Pieta" Bronze Bust Sculpture From the Vatican Treasury Collection Numbered 3001/3000 W/COA - This stunning piece is a Michelangelo Virgin Mary "Madonna Della Pieta" original bronze bust sculpture. These sculptures were commissioned through the Vatican and cast from a plaster relief done when the original bust in Rome was repaired. New Renaissance Art Corp. was licensed by the Vatican to cast these bronze sculptures to commemorate the 500th anniversary of Michelangelo's masterwork. The graceful and delicate Pieta was the only sculpture Michelangelo ever signed, and was considered by the artist not only the consummate expression of his own personal talent, but also the embodiment of the divine inspiration and ardent faith that guided his work. This is truly a beautiful bronze bust of the Virgin Mary, created from Michelangelo's "Madonna Della Pieta" by New Renaissance Art and produced under license with the Vatican Treasury Museum. This is a beautiful and breathtaking bronze, that will only continue to rise in value as they were produced in a very limited edition. The sculpture is stamped with both the Vatican Treasury and New Renaissance Art stamps, and is numbered 3001/3000. This is remarkable because for the first time a number was legitimately cast exceeding the edition number. This was because the Vatican did not want 666/3000, so this Madonna became 3001. The sculpture measures approx. 18"H and rests on a 12" circular base, and is in excellent condition. This piece will also come with a certificate of authenticity.
