Est. $20,000-$25,000 Diego Rivera (Mexican; 1886-1957) 1931 "Revolucionario" Original Signed Watercolor Painting Professionally Framed W/COA & Digital Analysis by Ruth Alvarado Rivera (Museum Exhibited Piece) - This stunningly rare piece is an original watercolor painting by prominent Mexican muralist and painter, Diego Rivera. The piece is titled "Revolucionario" and depicts a young man climbing high on a cliff overlooking a village. This is an extremely rare piece, unlike the majority of Rivera's colorful, stunningly detailed works. The piece is signed by the artist in the lower left corner, and has been professionally framed. Affixed to the back of the frame are a certificate of authenticity from Centro Cultural Arte Contemporaneo, Mexico (Cultural/Contemporary Art Center), which dates the piece to 1931. The Centro Cultural Arte Contemporaneo was one of Mexico's most visited museums, and this piece was exhibited in the museum. Also affixed to the back of the frame is the "Analisis Digital de la Obra" (digital analysis of the work) done by Ruth Alvarado Rivera, as you can see her name and initials along the side of the page. The piece will also come with a signed authentication from Ruth Rivera, on her personal letterhead. Ruth Maria Alvarado Rivera, was the granddaughter of Diego Rivera, and the authorized person in charge of authenticating his work. This is truly a spectacular investment piece. The piece (including the frame) measures approx. 24" x 19.5". Diego Rivera was a prominent Mexican painter, whose large frescoes helped establish the Mexican mural movement in Mexican art. Between 1922 and 1953, Rivera painted murals among others in Mexico City, Chapingo, Cuernavaca, San Francisco, Detroit, and New York City. With his socially and politically expansive artistic vision, narrative focus, and use of symbolic imagery, Rivera inspired such diverse artists as Ben Shahn, Thomas Hart Benton, and Jackson Pollock.
