Purpurin is a very rare and expensive material that is rarely ever found in Faberge pieces due to the cost. This piece was probably made for nobility, as this is the very first piece made by Karl Faberge that we have ever seen that is made of this material. The frog is finished with mine cut diamond eyes that are also set in solid gold. The piece has hand etched embellishments, and has a "56" (Russian standard for 14K Gold) bail that is adorned with genuine mine-cut diamond accents. This is a one of a kind piece from one of the largest (privately owned) Faberge collections in the world. You will never see another piece like this, as it is a true modern day treasure.
