Est. $7,500-$8,250 Empress Vietnamese Blue & White Porcelain 12" Pouring Vessel W/Silver Top & Fenghuang Scene - This beautiful piece is a blue and white porcelain pouring vessel. The vessel is of typical form, with a boulbous body and slender neck, and is finished with a metal stopper. The vessel is decorated in blue underglaze, with a Fenghuang and scrolling clouds. It is believed that the Fenghuang only appears in areas or places that are blessed with utmost peace and prosperity or happiness. It is a symbol of high virtue and grace, and is said to represent power sent from the heavens to the Empress. Selected vessels were finished with rims of silver as early as the Han dynasty to set them apart from the ordinary and to make them suitable for high class clients, and to also protect them from damage. The piece measures 9"H x 12" in circumference (at the widest point).
