Est. $5,000-$6,000 8 LB. (3670.2 Gram) Natural Teal Blue Chrysocolla Boulder - This rare piece is a massive, 8 pound Teal Blue Chrysocolla boulder. Chrysocolla is highly sought-after by many avid gem and mineral enthusiasts, and is especially prized for its attractive colors and unique, multicolored patterns. It can be found in copper deposits around the world, most notably Israel, Australia, the Congo, Chile, England, Russia, and the United States. Chrysocolla got it's name from the Ancient Greek word "chrysos kolla", or "gold glue", as it was used as a soldering agent during early times. Chrysocolla was first used in 315 B.C., by a Greek philosopher and botanist known as Theophrastus. In ancient Egypt, it was widely known as the 'wise stone' as it was thought to be able to shield the mind. Chrysocolla is also believed to be able to reduce violent actions and to increase sensitivity, which is why Cleopatra was known to have worn chrysocolla jewelry. Chrysocolla is also known among Native Americans for its ability to promote feelings of calmness in place of emotional turmoil. This massive boulder weighs 8 pounds (or 3670.2 grams), and measures approx. 9.5"L x 8"W x 4"H. You are not likely to ever see a boulder of this size again, as chrysocolla is typically known as a softer stone, and can be very brittle.
