Phyllis Diller (1917-2012) was an American stand-up comedian, actress and voice artist. She was known for her exaggerated, cackling laugh, her self-deprecating humor, and her eccentric stage persona. She was one of the first female comics to become a household name in the U.S., and paved the way for Joan Rivers, Roseanne Barr, Ellen Degeneres, and others who credit her influence.
