Est. $750-$900 Frederic Remington (American, 1861-1909) Signed "Rattlesnake" Bronze Sculpture on Marble Base - This sculpture was made by Frederic Remington, and is titled "Rattlesnake". The sculpture depicts a cowboy being bucked by his uncontrollable stallion. A leisurely trot turns violent as the horse is spooked by a vicious rattlesnake. The cowboy's left hand tightly grips the reigns, while his right hand holds his trusty hat to his head. The piece is truly beautiful, and impressive when viewed from any angle. Remington first sculpted "The Rattlesnake" in 1904 and it is considered one of his best sculptures, showing the fluid movement of the bucking horse and rider. The sculpture won much praise, and was called the work of a master's hand. It was Remington's 12th sculpture and went on to become one of his most popular works in bronze. The sculpture is signed Frederic Remington, and rests on a marble base. This piece measures 17"x14"x6".
