Vietnamese Bleu de Hue Porcelain Bowl W/Metal Rim & Five Claw Dragon Chasing Flaming Pearl Scene - This piece depicts a scene of two dragons fighting with eachother over the flaming pearl. One dragon is spitting fire while the other is grasping for the pearl, which is just out of his reach. The flaming pearl is associated with spiritual energy, wisdom, prosperity, power, or immortality. The dragons have five claws, which suggests that the piece was made for an emperor or someone of nobility. Selected vessels were finished with rims of silver as early as the Han dynasty to set them apart from the ordinary and to make them suitable for high class clients. Measures: 7" diameter x 4"H.
